02. How To: Jailbreak iOS 5 On iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS With RedSn0w 0.9.9b6 [Windows] - Nov 5, 2011 9:54:00 AM
Earlier today we told you that the Dev-Team have updated RedSn0w to version 0.9.9b6. RedSn0w was updated to version 0.9.9b6 to fix various bugs when jailbreaking iOS 5. While a majority of these bugs were mostly specific to users jailbreaking their iPhone 3GS (running the 06.15.00 baseband), the Dev-Team notes RedSn0w 0.9.9b6 provides both functional and cosmetic fixes for jailbreaking the iOS 5 firmware.
Note #1: We recommend jailbreaking iOS 5 with RedSn0w 0.9.9b6 even if you are already jailbroken on iOS 5. If you are going to re-jailbreak your iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS with RedSn0w 0.9.9b6, just ensure you uncheck the install Cydia option.
Note #2: RedSn0w 0.9.9b6 does not allow you to create custom IPSW files for preserving your baseband. This feature is coming soon.
Note #3: RedSn0w 0.9.9b6 is a tethered jailbreak and does not support jailbreaking the iPhone 4S.
Note# 4: If you would like to update to iOS 5 please click here to follow our detailed guide.
Jailbreak iOS 5 On iPhone With RedSn0w 0.9.9b6Step 1) Download RedSn0w 0.9.9b6 for Windows from the iJailbreak Downloads Section or using the download mirror below:

Step 4) You will come to a screen where you will need to put your iPhone into DFU mode. Read through and follow the instructions presented to you which is to plug in and power off your iPhone and click the Next button.
Step 5) When you click the Next button you will need to follow the instructions presented to you to put your iPhone into DFU mode.
Hold down Power (corner) button for 5 seconds.Without releasing the Power button, also hold down the Home (bottom center) button along with the Power button for 10 seconds.Without releasing the home button, stop holding down the power button for up to 15 seconds.Step 6) After you successfully enter DFU mode RedSn0w will now prepare the jailbreak data. Once RedSn0w is done ensure the “Install Cydia” option is checked and click the Next button.
Step 7) RedSn0w will begin jailbreaking your iPhone. DO NOT interrupt or use your Mac during this time. When your iPhone is finished being jailbroken it will reboot into a jailbroken state.
Optional: Booting Tethered - When you Jailbreak your iPhone on iOS 5 (official version) you will have a tethered Jailbreak. Meaning in order for your iPhone to turn back on you will need to boot it using RedSn0w (this applies every time your iPhone looses power). To do this launch RedSn0w again and click the Extras Button > then click the Just boot button and you will need to put your iPhone into DFU mode again.
You can also follow our how to guide to booting a tethered jailbreak using RedSn0w on Windows by clicking here.
Note: Yes, you need to do this every time your iPhone looses power.
Congrats! You should now have a jailbroken iPhone 4, 3GS on iOS 5 using RedSn0w 0.9.9b6 (for Windows).

05. Downgrade iPhone 06.15.00 Baseband to 05.13.xx (iPhone 3G with Bootloader 5.8 Only) - May 20, 2011 10:19:00 PM
An iSpazio reader found a method to perform the baseband 06.15.00 downgrade on iPhone 3G with Bootloader 5.8 In case you updated your iPhone 3G with Baseband 06.15.00 With Redsn0w trick and now wants to go back to stock baseband, following is the guide for you.
Fuzzyband Downgrader detects your bootloader and baseband and downgrade it with a simple click if your bootloader is vulnerable to Fuzzyband . Fuzzyband Downgrader available in Cydia, just refresh your sources and search for Fuzzyband and install the application. But you need to do little more effort with fuzzyband and following are the step by step instructions.
Please Note :Downgrading works from any version greater than 05.13.xx It will put your baseband back at version 05.13.xx which is hackable by ultrasn0w.Downgrading only works on iPhone 3G with 05.08 (5.8) Bootloader from the factory. This is a very limited number of phones that were released in the first few weeks of the 3G production cycle. If you do not know your bootloader then you can run Fuzzyband and it will report the version number for you.iPhone 3GS and large numbers of iPhone 3G aren’t supported by the Fuzzyband, so in case your baseband is updated then wait for Dev team/GeoHot to release any workaround. This may take weeks or months. This is what you need to have:
iPhone 3G JailbrokenFuzzyband installed via Cydia;afc2add installed via Cydia;iFunBox (for Windows) or DiskAid (for Mac);certificate for use with Fuzzyband Download it HEREThis is what you need to do:

download the certificate from 06.15.00.cert ICE2- HERE;Install fuzzyband through cydia, connect the computer to the iPhone 3G,Start iFunBox and click File, then go to Applications / Fuzzyband.app, drap and drop the file you downloaded (ICE2-06.15.00.cert);At this point you must disconnect the iPhone from your computer and start Fuzzyband (which you previously installed from Cydia);in Fuzzyband you will see your current version of the baseband (which should be 6.15) and have the opportunity to downgrade to version 5.13.Now just click on downgrade baseband, thats it! Once you have downgraded, Go to Settings –> About, and scroll down to check your Baseband which should now read 05.13.xx. Now just go to cydia and install ultrasn0w, thats it!
But, remember to repeat the same  process if you update your iphone 3g.

arlier this day, iH8sn0w, the well-know iPhone hacker has just released Sn0wbreeze 2.2 (aka PwnageTool for Windows), Sn0wbreeaze 2.2 will allow you to jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 by creating custom firmware for Windows. This version is also based on Greenpois0n exploit.

But the question is why do I need to use Sn0breeze while I have a simple tool like Greenpois0n. The main advantage of Sn0wbreeze 2.2 is the capability of preserving baseband with the new feature "Baseband Preservation Mode", which allows you to jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 and unlock your iPhone 4, 3GS and 3G with the existing version of ultrasn0w.

Supported devices:
iPhone 4, 3GS, 3GiPod touch 4G, 3G, 2GiPad You can follow our previous guide posted here to jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, but you have to avoid

Step 8: This step and step 9 are for iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G (MB Model) only, otherwise bypass step 8 and 9,  Now Download iReb V4.0 (links at the end of the post) and make sure that iTunes is launched

11. Update iPhone 4 to 4.2.1and Preserve Baseband 01.59.00 [Full Guide] - Feb 16, 2011 8:12:00 AM
his tutorial will show you how to upgrade your iPhone 4 to iOS 4.2.1 without upgrading its baseband using TinyUmbrella for Windows.

Note: This ONLY Works with the iPhone 4!

Step One
Download TinyUmbrella from here Also make sure to download the iPhone 4 iOS 4.2.1 which you can find here.

Step Two
Double click the downloaded TinyUmbrella.exe file.

If you get a Windows Firewall notification, check both boxes and click Allow Access.

Step Three
Make sure the device is connected, and Umbrella has detected the type of device and its firmware.

**If you haven't already saved your iOS 4.2.1 SHSH blobs then click Save SHSH. Make sure they successfully save before continuing.

Step Four
Hit Start TSS Server and make sure you receive no errors.

Once The TSS Server is "running" successfully, umbrella will kill iTunes. Leave TinyUmbrella Open. You can double check to see if the TSS server is running under the Log tab.

If you do receive an error, DO NOT continue. Your restore will not work if the TSS server cannot be started.

Step Five
Open iTunes by doubling clicking its icon in the dock.

Hold down the Shift key and click Restore

Select your iPhone 4.2.1 firmware file from the popup window that appears and click Open.

Click Restore to begin restoring your device.

Step Six
iTunes should give you error 1013. This is what we wanted, as it notes the baseband has not updated :) Click Ok and close iTunes.

If you get a 16XX error then try entering DFU and go to step 5.
If your restore does NOT end in a 1013, it means your baseband was updated. This is likely because you did not have the TSS server running OR you updated without TinyUmbrella OR you are working with a device OTHER than iPhone 4.

Step Seven
Place your iPhone into DFU mode by holding down both the Power and Home buttons for ten seconds, then release the Power button and continue holding the Home button for another 5 seconds. You can find help with DFU mode here.

Step Eight
You are now ready to follow our Greenpois0n tutorial which will jailbreak your device and bring it out of DFU mode. **Note: You do not need to put the device into DFU mode after press the Jailbreak button in Greenpois0n as we have already done this :)

Step Nine
Your iPhone will now be on 4.2.1 with the 1.59.00 baseband! (Which means you can now unlock using this tutorial)

The component suppliers noted that the production lines for Apple's next generation iPhone have begun testing, and Apple is interesting in expanding the screen size to 4-inches to support the tablet PC market as the vendor only has a 9.7-inch iPad in the market.Digitimes also noting that iPhone 5 will sport A5 processor which will directly compete with recently launched Android handsets sporting Tegra 2 dual-core processors.
Apple is reportedly looking to outsource the production of its A4 processor as well as the next-generation ARM Cortex-A9-based A5 processor to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), according to industry sources.

According to Digitimes Research, the iPad 2 will support an enhanced version of the A4 and the A5 will power the iPhone 5. TSMC will initially produce the improved A4, and could likely become the exclusive manufacturer of the A5.

14. Downgrade iOS 4.2.1 to 4.1 / 4.0.2 / 4.0.1 on iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G, iPod touch and iPad - Feb 14, 2011 9:36:00 PM
iOS 4.2.1 was released yesterday for iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G, iPod touch 4G, 3G, 2G and iPad. Even though iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak is possible via Redsn0w 0.9.6b2, but Cydia is still broken which makes the jailbreak pointless for many. It also contains new baseband for all iOS devices which currently makes it impossible to unlock using existing version of Ultrasn0w. So if you upgraded to iOS 4.2.1 and now want to downgrade back to iOS 4.1 / 4.0.2 / 4.0.1, follow the instructions posted below to downgrade iOS 4.2 on iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G, iPod touch and iPad to iOS 4.1 / 4.0.x.

NOTE: This guide will only work if you have SHSH blobs saved for the respective firmware you downgrading to.

STEP 1: Download iOS 4.1 or older firmwares for iPhone or iPod Touch.

STEP 2: Put your iPhone in DFU Mode by following this steps,
Connect your iPhone to your computer. Turn iPhone off.Start iTunesHold Power and Home buttons together for 10 seconds or so. Release Power button but keep holding the Home button until your computer recognizes a new USB device. iTunes will now recognize your iPad.
STEP 3: If you are on iPhone 3G or iPod touch 2G (non-MC model) bypass this step. This step is about adding Saurik’s Server address to your system hosts file. This trick make iTunes thinks it is talking to Apple, while it is talking to Cydia while the restoring process.
Locate "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\" for Windows and "/etc/" directory for Mac, then locate “hosts” file andOpen it in Notepad (for Windows) or TextEdit (for Mac OS X) and add this at the bottom of the file.74.208.105.171 gs.apple.comAt last it will be like that, then save it

STEP 4: Now, You will have to restore your iDevice to iOS 4.1, 4.0.2 or 4.0.1  by clicking on the iPhone icon on the left sidebar of iTunes then hold left “alt” button on Mac (“Shift” button on Windows) on the keyboard and then click on “Restore” then release the alt button, Now Select the iOS 4.1, 4.0.2 or 4.0.1 ipsw file you have already downloaded in Step 1 and let iTunes do some automated Steps.
STEP 5: You will need to exit recovery mode, so download TinyUmbrella (Windows / Mac). Run it and the click on “Exit Recovery” button. Your device will now restart normally.

Now you got back to iOS 4.1, 4.0.2 or 4.0.1 and you can jailbreak your iPhone

This is how to jailbreak iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 using Greenpois0n for Windows. Greenpois0n supports the iOS 4.1 and iOS 4.2.1 firmware. Use Limera1n if you want to jailbreak iOS 4.0, iOS 4.0.1, iOS 4.0.2.

Ultrasn0w does not support that baseband yet. The only exception is the iPhone 4. You can update to iOS 4.2.1 without upgrading your baseband by following this tutorial.

Step One
Open your web browser of choice and navigate to http://www.greenpois0n.com. Click the Windows link at the bottom of the screen.

Double click the downloaded gp_win_rc5_b2.zip file then drag the greenpois0n.exe file to the desktop.
Double greenpois0n.exe from the desktop to launch the application

19. Download All iPhone / iPod / iPad Apple Firmwares + iTunes + All Jailbreak tools - Feb 7, 2011 2:48:00 PM
When you download the file with IE (Internet Explorer), it has a zip extension.
You need to change that to .ipsw
(ATTENTION: the right extension is IPSW not ispw !!)
Don’t unzip it. Just change the extension (rename the .zip file in .ipsw).
On a Mac if you read “xxxx.ipsw.zip” delete .zip !
If you don’t want to change the file type to .ipsw, just use different browser such Firefox or Safari from Apple.
Good luck !!
